This article is about trade show display design, and
specifically, selecting a good title or tagline for your
trade show display. I
selected the title of this article (trade show display quotes) for two reasons.
First, to point out the problem of selecting a bad or misleading title, and
secondly, to put forward an idea for a great trade show display title that came
to me this morning in the shower.
First, the problem of a bad title (or a bad tagline) for your
trade show display design. I'm going to guess that most readers thought this
article was going to be about getting a price for a trade show display,
that is a "quote." But that's not what this article is about. This article is
about quotes, not quotes. Get it? You don't want to have a misleading or easily
misunderstood title or tagline on your trade show display.
Note: for those readers that are looking for information on
"trade show display quotes" (that is pricing), I'll say that I've never liked
needing to have a salesman "work up a quote" (i.e. figure out how much they can
gouge me) when I'm looking for trade show displays. I like a trade show
display company that has fixed, easy to understand pricing, and that is
upfront about that pricing, and has no hidden costs. I like a trade show display
company that lets you buy your trade show display
online, at any time of the day or night, and offers free ground shipping (I hate
hidden shipping costs). Anyway, that's my take on the other interpretation of
"trade show display quotes", now back to the point of this article...
My second point is my idea for a great title (or great tagline) for your trade show booth design. I like
quotes - you know, the lines that famous people utter that then go down in
history. You may notice I include a quote at the bottom of this website's
homepage, which I change whenever I find a new quote that better suits my fancy
at that point in time. The current homepage quote is by Virgil, if you
want to check it out.. Anyway, every month my bank sends me a statement, and on
it they include a famous quote. Last month it was by Winston Churchill:
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: is
is the courage to continue that counts." ~ Winston Churchill 1871-1965
This got me to thinking. How many of us can say things better
than famous people's quotes that have passed the test of time and history? Not
many I suspect. So the next time you're creating your trade show booth design,
how about thinking of using a quote in it. Heck, you can even use Winston's
quote above if you want.
PS. Not all quotes are created equal. The month before my bank
statement had this quote:
"We are continually faced by great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems." ~ Lee Iococca
I'm not so sure that the big three US car companies have
"brilliantly disguised" "great opportunities" right now. I think they are more
likely just what they appear, "insoluble problems". Well, we shall see.
