The first record of baby buggies in Sweden appears in a book, "Hude Verdest Munde" published in 1438. Scholars disagree over whether they were invented by the Swedes or first originated in Spain (and were hence imported for the royal family. The Swedish royal family actually had one gilded in gold (circa 1640s) that was built by the revivalist master Herde Verde Schventschberg. Today, one will see baby buggies all over Sweden, from north to south and east to west. As with other countries, the number of colors is nothing short of amazing, and includes pink, yellow, red, violet, purple, orange, green, black, brown, and scarlet. The most popular version seems to be the three wheeled baby buggy model (there are very few two or four wheeled versions), and accessories like seatbelts, brakes, and airbags are uncommon. The latest government numbers report that only 10% of Swedes have baby buggies, though it is thought that a huge number of families simply borrow a buggy from a neighbor when they need one. Baby buggies are used only during the summer and the winters are too cold and dark, and and the paths are covered with ice. Marketers are try to promote more spring and fall use, but have been unsuccessful so far. The primary manufacturer of baby buggies in Sweden is the Kid Kangaroo Baby Buggy LTD (KKBB) company located in Stockholm, which employees 100 full-time and 500 seasonal employees, and claims to make over 90% of the green baby buggies (green being the actual color and not necessarily meaning eco-friendly) produced in Sweden (and 80% of all other colors). ~ source: whywouldyoubelievethis[dot]com/madeup-stuff-about-swedish-baby-buggies
